Bean Squeezins'

Ron Kinard (c) 2-2009

I wake up in a hurry
my heart is all ah' flutter
I stumble into the kitchen
and grab the peanut butter

it's not my morning fancy
it certainly wasn't my goal
I was looking for the coffee
oh, let the truth be told

I flung it to the side
it wound up in the sink
I might be better off, if
I took another drink

it scrambled my emotions
I know not what to say
if I don't find my java
it'll totally ruin my day

the ol' lady did the shopping
and repacked the storage space
without my glasses, I can't see
the Folgers in my face

I yanked it from the shelf
it exploded everywhere
with grinds all over the kitchen
at this point, I don't care

pulling out a spatula and
raking some ina' spoon
oh my God, at this rate
I won't get caffiene until noon

I fumbled for a moment more
it finally registered in my head
I'd be better off, if
I'd just stayed in bed

I scraped enough together
and made a halfa' pot
it tasted a little funny
but, by gosh, it's hot

drinking it very quickly
I only wanted more
gathering up my clothing
I took off to the store

the quickie mart attendant
had seen this all before
warning the other customers
to move back from the door

with the speed of Mercury
I flashed into the spot
of where they kept the coffee brewed
in a big ol' stainless pot

filling up a thermos
I left to start my day
thinking about it, all this time
my ol' lady, she will pay

none the less, I realized
I should make it the night before
instead of having to stumble out
to a convience store
